Public Notification

A PUBLIC HEARING to receive comments regarding one proposed application for a waiver of State Board Rules and/or School Code Mandates for Hutsonville Community Unit School District #1, County of Crawford, State of Illinois, will be held at the regular monthly Board of Education meeting at The District Central Office, 500 West Clover Street, Hutsonville, Illinois on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 7:00 PM. Any person desiring to present testimony to the Board of Education may do so at that time.

Narrative

The Board of Education of Hutsonville CUSD #1 seeks a waiver of Section 105 ILCS 5/10-20.12a of The School Code which would permit the District to charge less than 110% of the per capita tuition charge for nonresident children of full-time employees of the District.  The actual intent would be to allow students of full time employees to attend free of charge. Hutsonville CUSD #1 would claim the average daily attendance of such students on the State Aid Claim.

The Board and administration have studied and discussed this issue and believe that faculty and staff members who are able to bring their children into the Hutsonville Schools will increase their vested interest in the District and motivate them to work hard for instructional improvement since there would be a direct, personal benefit.  Such motivation would be a benefit to all students in the system, not just their own.

Additionally, this flexibility could be a key factor in the recruitment of highly qualified staff for this small rural school district.

Each employee who takes advantage of this opportunity would be required to submit, on a yearly basis, the answer to the following question:

How has your child attending Hutsonville Schools enhanced the life of your child and your family? (Consider as many aspects as you can, such as academic, social, family communication, impact your own employment, etc.)
